June 17 - Me Me Mom

I have been accused on two fronts this week of being self-centered and selfish. I was told that if I was able to focus more on others' needs, this current mess wouldn't hurt so much. And I guess this blog is pretty much all about me. So... I'm taking a step back to evaluate the input and try to be appropriately better.
In the meantime, today's my mom's birthday. She is on her way here for a visit, and she is fabulous! Happy Birthday, Mom!

This blog is supposed to be about you! (from it's very inception) It is now supposed to be about anything you want it to be about!

I watched my Mom focus completely on the needs of others most of my life. This focus intensified when she was abandoned by my father. She justified this focus until her dying day -- literally, by saying that it was Biblically required and helped her not to think about the permanent pain in her heart put there by her husband.

That said....from the outside looking in... which gives me a perspective she did not have...
Her pain was never lessened and never subdued. This approach contributed to her untimely death!

One must take care of themself appropriately in order to be capable of helping anyone else effectively!

Happy Birthday to your wonderful mother!

I don't think there's anything you can do to make the current mess hurt less. Two's right, it's important to take care of yourself, which in turn allows you to better care for others. You know, "first secure your oxygen mask before assisting children and elderly passengers."

That said, who's this idiot that said you're being self-centered and selfish? (Oh crap, it wasn't me, was it? That's not what I meant!)
